The Monk's Kettle Restaurant

The bar at The Monk's Kettle Restaurant in the Mission District.  We had heard about this restaurant on Almanac's website and thought it sounded delicious.  Our instincts were right because we later decided this was the best meal of our entire trip.

The daily pickle jar appetizer.

The pretzel knots appetizer with house-made mustard and cheese sauce.

Almanac beer is made in some guy's home in San Francisco. Each season, he pairs with a local, sustainable farm for fruit.  It was blackberries in 2010 and it will be plums in 2011.  The brewing process is very unique and you can read more about it here: http://www.almanacbeer.com/

Truly a small batch.....each bottle is signed and numbered.

The bacon burger.

A chicken sandwich with bacon jam.  That's right, BACON JAM.  It is so good I don't know how I survived this long without it.  Googling bacon jam recipes as we speak......
We rode BART to the Mission District and came across this little thing at the station.  It is a channel that you can put your bike in while going up and down the stairs.  Never seen anything like it before.

Another view of the bike channel.
